Ex-Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has aimed a dig at Barcelona greats, Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta. Xavi and Iniesta were core members of the Barcelona team under Pep Guardiola that gained so much prominence and amassed a lot of trophies.
Jack Wilshere made a statement about his huge quality on February 16, 2011, when he displayed an exceptional performance against Barcelona in a Champions League encounter at Emirates Stadium.
Wilshere, being just 19 years old at that time, dominated the midfield despite the presence of Xavi and Iniesta on the pitch. Wilshere controlled the game for Arsenal with Robin Van Persie and Andrey Arshavin sealing a 2-1 victory for Arsenal.
In a Twitter question and answer session, Wilshere was asked who he learned from the most between Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets and he replied, “couldn’t learn much, they all spent the night in my pocket.”
Despite an impressive outing for Wilshere in the round of 16 first leg where he outclassed Xavi and Iniesta, Barcelona qualified for the quarter-final after winning 3-1 in the second leg at the Camp Nou.
