Dutch star, Georginio Wijnaldum is set to quit Liverpool for a move to Spanish giants, Real Madrid. Wijnaldum is on the final year of his contract which is set to expire during the summer. This means that the Dutch footballer would move to Barcelona on a free transfer.
Wijnaldum could reunite with Ronald Koeman as the Barcelona coach was in charge of affairs at the Dutch national team. Wijnaldum was expected to join Barcelona during the summer but a move failed to materialize as the club’s finances were not capable enough to finalize a move for the Dutchman.
The Mirror has reported that Liverpool would like to keep Wijnaldum but he has his heart set on a move to Barcelona. Jurgen Klopp has refused to move to speak much on a potential move of the Dutchman to Barcelona but below is what he had to say.
“I have nothing to say about this. I have said how much I like the person and the player so there is really nothing else to say about it.
That’s not good or bad news. That’s just how it is. If there’s a decision you would know about it.”
Barcelona is yet to hold an election for a new president after Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned last year as a move would have to be finalized by a new Barcelona president.
