Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has explained the struggles that Timo Werner has been facing at Chelsea. Timo Werner has not replicated the form that saw him score 34 goals for German club RB Leipzig.
Werner, who was signed for £50million from Leipzig was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s starting lineup against Against Wolves in Tuchel’s first game in charge of the Blues.
Tuchel has admitted that Werner is not having his best moments as a Chelsea player and is stated that the German international cares too much about his situation. Tuchel revealed that sometimes it is better not to care too much about a bad spell of performance.
“At the moment his face is a bit closed. The weight is on his shoulders. He cares a lot and that shows he has a fantastic character.
Sometimes as a striker it does not help if you care a lot. Sometimes it’s better not to care at all but he’s not that guy. He cares but he’s not happy with himself and with the way things have gone lately,” Tuchel revealed.
Tuchel’s first game in charge at Chelsea ended in a goalless draw but there were some positives signs and he would be looking to begin an era at Stamford Bridge.
