The football world took a major hit when the European Super League project was introduced as it is to be headed by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. However, the withdrawal of most of the 12 clubs from the ESL put a suspension to the project as club fans around Europe strongly voiced their rejection of the project.
However, Florentino Perez has insisted that the European Super League project has not been completely terminated as modifications would be made to it. He also stated that the 12 clubs signed a binding contract and would be held by it despite their official withdrawal from the competition.
Florentino Perez has also stated that clubs would not be able to sign players like Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland without the European Super League.
The Real Madrid president, while speaking with El Larguero said;
“In general, there will not be big transfers this summer. When money does not flow from the rich clubs to the poor clubs, everyone suffers.
“It’s impossible to make signings like Mbappe and Haaland, in general, not just for Real Madrid, without the Super League.”
Mbappe and Haaland are two of the players who are sought after the most in Europe as their numbers are impressive. Kylian Mbappe recently qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League after his team Paris Saint-Germain defeated Bayern Munich on away goals. Erling Haaland, on the other hand, was impressive but lost to Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals.
