Popular Nigeria Cleric and Islamic Leader, Sheikh Gumi has said that Nigerians and Journalists are making situations worse for themselves by calling Bandits’ criminals. Sheikh Gumi also made known the criteria for killings to stop in Nigeria.
Late yesterday, Sheikh Gumi was in an interview with Arise TV where he dropped some words to the Press, Journalists, and Nigerians. Sheikh Gumi insinuated that these people Journalists call criminals and Bandits are listening to the Journalists on Television as other Nigerians do.
Gumi also made known and claimed that the Journalists are criminals for calling these people criminals too.
Sheikh Gumi then said that for Banditry and Killings to become a thing of the past, Nigerians and Journalists should stop calling these people Criminals. He said that they are ready to drop their weapons at any time.
In Sheikh Gumi’s words, he wrote,
“You are emphasizing criminality. I don’t know. Even the press and journalists are criminals too because they are putting oil into the fire. These people are listening to you, don’t address them as criminals if you want them to succumb. Youths are ready to put down their weapons, now they are hearing you call them criminals. How do you want them to cooperate?
“So you have to show them that they are Nigerians and that they should not hurt children and that they should be law-abiding. These are the language we want to hear from the Journalists to assist us in getting the boys. When we talk to them in nice wordings, they are ready to put down their weapons.
“They are ready to listen to us, but when the language is about criminality, Kill them, jail them, then this is what we will end up having.”
Finally, on this, Sheikh Gumi has released the criteria for Banditry in Nigeria to become a thing of the past as Gumi said Nigerians and Journalists should stop calling them criminals and they are ready to drop their weapons at any time.
