The Ooni Of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has sent a message to Sunday the Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Igboho. The Ooni of Ife explained that Sunday Igboho has done well, but for any reason, he shouldn’t keep laws in his hands.
The Ooni of Ife explained all this and more in an interview with Arise TV. The Ooni continued explaining that Igboho should allow those in authority to address the issue themselves. In the Ooni of Ife’s word, He said,
“Let us be very objective. Sunday Igboho has done well and we have already praised him, but he shouldn’t take laws into his hands. He is a mouthpiece for the downtrodden. He came up and everybody is listening now, but my advice to him as a traditional ruler is that he needs to be very careful so that the politicians won’t hijack the whole motive from him.
“We have Governor Makinde there, he is the chief security officer of Oyo State and Mr. President has invited him. Let the right people that are being authorized to do what is right do it. Igboho has done well and the world has heard him, but everything should be done in moderation.
“We know that the bandits are everywhere. He should not take laws into his hands. We have laws in this country and we should follow them. Let the right people chosen do and follow what they are supposed to do.
The Ooni of Ife then continued talking about the traditional rulers like him. He made known that the traditional rulers are not politicians and they should be neutral. He then expressed that he has tried his best to be neutral. He said in his words,
“Traditional rulers have a role to play. We should be very neutral and so far so good, we have been trying to be neutral. Whatever this government is doing, we always stand up to try and see how to support them.
“It is not as if we will now go out to criticize them. We are not politicians, we are traditional rulers, we should be respected, we should be neutral and we should accommodate all and Sundry.
Finally, that’s the message the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has for Sunday Igboho who is known to be a Yoruba Rights activist.
