Mauricio Pochettino was officially unveiled as the coach of Paris Saint-Germain today after the paper works were finally completed and the terms agreed between parties. The Argentine signed a contract with PSG that would run until June 2022.
Pochettino replaced Thomas Tuchel, who took the French side to the Champions League final last season but lost to Bayern Munich 1-0 in a very competitive affair. Pochettino also lost a Champions League final to Liverpool two years ago when he was the coach of Tottenham.
Pochettino has now sent an emotional message to Tottenham fans where he coached before being signed as PSG’s coach. The Argentine wrote;
“Thank you to everyone who made our seven years in England such an incredible experience. My family, staff, and I have been so happy here. It has really felt like home and we appreciate all the support and warmth you have shown us.
We have made many friends and memories that would last a lifetime. To manage in the Premier League was a dream come true and I hope you would remember me for more now than just Sapporo in 2002!
It’s time for a new adventure and the opportunity to realize another personal ambition. Big hug, Mauricio × @premierleague, @spursofficial, @southamptonfc.”
Mauricio Pochettino would be expected to win the Champions League title for the French giants after they came very close to winning it last year. Their first big task would be the round of 16 matches against Barcelona with the first leg scheduled to hold in February.
