Champions League nights are difficult nights and you can be made to pay if you don’t make the most of your positive moments. Although some of the blame would have to go to Ole Gunnar Solksjaer for not making proper use of his substitutions, a large chunk of the blame also goes to the players.
Although PSG grabbed the first goal through a brilliant strike, Manchester United had some moments where they should have killed off the game. Martial would find it hard to forget the glorious chance he missed and the whole team was made to pay.
Fred was all over the place yesterday, but this time not in a very positive sense. He was very lucky to have escaped a red card in the first half and perhaps should have been substituted at half time. PSG have smart players as they found the weak link in the Manchester United midfield and found it in Fred.
Unlike the central defense partnership of Manchester United, Marquinhos gave a very impressive display as he blocked shots on one end and scored on the other. Manchester United cannot afford to be defeated in their final match of the group stage as that would mean they would be out of the Champions League.
Manchester United would have to sort things out and get players to play at their best but Marcus Rashford’s injury would have added more complications for Manchester United. It remains to see if they would make it to the Champions League and they now know it’s a do-or-die affair next week.
