Manchester United forward, Odion Ighalo has narrated how he used to go hungry just to watch Manchester United play football. He revealed his passion for Manchester United while growing up, stating that he used to hold back some of his lunch money to save and watch the Red Devils play at the weekend.
The Nigerian International explained how it used to be watching Manchester United play at viewing centers. According to him, people would be congested at a very small place and some would even pull off their shirts to watch United play but no one cared because of the passion they had. On saving money to watch the Manchester United games, he said;
I had to save money. Before you go to school, my mum would leave me some money if I wanted to eat lunch. From Monday I was saving my money because I wanted to watch Manchester United.
I split it in two. Even though I would use part of the money for lunch, I would save some of the money because the weekend is coming. Sometimes you would be feeling hungry because you don’t eat properly, but you don’t want to miss the game at the weekend.”
Ighalo also stated that he used to cry whenever Manchester United lost a game because people would be arguing and saying “bad things” because his team lost.
