Paris Saint-Germain forward Angel Di Maria is ruled out of next week’s mouth-watering clash against Barcelona as he incurred a thigh problem in PSG’s 2-0 victory against Olympic Marseille on Sunday evening.
The forward was expected to reunite with his teammate at the international level of Argentina Lionel Messi. However, his participation has been ruled out by coach Mauricio Pochettino who admitted that his participation is compromised.
“As the club said, there will be further communication within the club concerning Angel but his participation in the match against Barcelona is compromised.
His absence is not a reason to change our ideas. We will find the best available solutions. Angel has played a lot and he is an important player for us. But there are other players who can play and enable us to win matches.
The participation of star midfielder Marco Verratti is still unclear as he has a bruised hip although he is expected to be in time for the important clash against Barcelona next week. Keylor Navas is also on the injury list as he is struggling with a groin problem.
Meanwhile, Barcelona has injury problems of their own as players like Ansu Fati, Gerard Pique, Philippe Coutinho, Sergi Roberto are ruled out with long-term injuries. Recent injuries to players such as Ronald Araujo, Sergino Dest, Miralem Pjanic, and Martin Braithwaite also mean they are doubtful for the first leg scheduled to hold next week Tuesday.
