Manchester United failed to put enough pressure on Manchester City at the top of the table after falling to a 3-3 draw against Everton.
The Red Devils entered the half-time break on a high note as Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes scored a goal each to ensure Manchester United had a two-goal lead going into the second half.
However, a complete resurgence from Everton saw them score two early goals at the start of the second half to level the scores. The United defense was very shaky yet again but Scott McTominay restored the lead after a brilliant set-piece from Luke Shaw.
The Red Devils were set to end the game the three points but catastrophe again as the United defense found it difficult to defend a set-piece taken from the halfway line. Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted late into stoppage time to ensure the two teams share the spoils.
Bruno Fernandes has not held back in criticizing the Manchester United defense as he lamented the horrible defending from the Red Devils.
“I think we gave away the result. We gave away the game twice. Because after being 2-0 up at halftime, coming into the second half in the way we did, it’s really bad.
We are conceding goals every game. We are conceding goals a lot of times and at home, we concede too many goals…It doesn’t matter how. You concede two goals and you come again and you score again.
It’s impossible to concede another goal again, from a free kick in the half of the pitch, we concede a goal from there and the way we concede.”
