Bayer Munich has strengthened their squad further after confirming the signing of highly-rated defender Dayot Upamecano has been linked to many top clubs across Europe such as Chelsea, Liverpool, Juventus, and Manchester United.
Upamecano has been signed for a reported fee of €42.5 million and would play for Leipzig until the end of the season before joining Hansi Flick’s side next season.
The statement on Bayern Munich’s official website read;
“Dayot Upamecano would play for FC Bayern Munich on July 1, 2021. The defender and the German record champion agreed on a five-year collaboration until June 30, 2026.”
The imminent departure of defender David Alaba led to the signing of Dayot Upamecano as his replacement, who would meet up with his French International teammates Kingsley Coman and Benjamin Parvard at the club.
Bayern Munich is on a high note as they recently won the sextuple after winning the Club World Cup. They are now the second team to achieve this feat in the history of football after Pep Guardiola achieved it first during his time at Barcelona. Guardiola has congratulated Bayern Munich on achieving the feat, challenging the Bavarians to a match against his former Barcelona team.
