Barcelona is reported to be close to securing the signing of Manchester City defender Eric Garcia. According to Marca, ‘an agreement is very close’ between Manchester City and Barcelona and the Spaniard could be playing at the Camp Nou next season.
Eric Garcia has been linked with a move to Barcelona for quite some time now as he was linked to the Catalan club during the last two transfer windows. A move for Eric Garcia during the January transfer window failed due to the poor situation of the club’s finances. The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported that a source close to the negotiations said; “in the end, we will reach an agreement”.
Mundo Deportivo also reported that an initial decision to reduce the player’s salary didn’t bode well with the player and his surroundings but a potential solution has been found through a variable.
Manchester City’s coach Pep Guardiola praised Eric Garcia following Manchester City’s 1-0 win against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup final as he explained that he was not in the squad because he is close to a move to Barcelona.
