Just like Gerard Pique had said after the 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the quarter-final of last season’s Champions League, Barcelona had hit rock bottom. If they were not aware of it before, the fans would have known that after the 8-2 defeat.
However, they are currently in a rebuilding process and the work of Ronald Koeman must be appreciated. This is not just because of what he is currently doing with the team but because of his level of enthusiasm and availability to take charge at Barcelona despite the abysmal level they were.
It’s already difficult when you have to manage Barcelona and if you don’t think so, you could ask Setien or Valverde. Without looking at these factors, Ronald Koeman was bold enough to make some changes by getting rid of the likes of Arturo Vidal, Luis Suarez, and Ivan Rakitic. Younger players are being integrated into the team and the matches are now worth watching than before. Although questions may be raised about his 4-2-3-1 formation which has been proven not to have the most effective result without a proven no.9, he has managed to get the best out of his squad.
Also, the burden on Lionel Messi has reduced as other players such as Phillipe Coutinho, Antoine Griezmann, and Ansu Fati has taken up a lot of the creative responsibility from the Argentine maestro. Barcelona fans finally have a reason to breathe a sigh of relief because they are on the right path.
